Ockbrook Moravian Church, located at 12 The Settlement, Ockbrook, is one of Derbyshire’s most historic and characterful places of worship. Its story began in 1739, when local resident Isaac Frearson encountered preacher Jacob Rogers while on a business trip to Nottingham. Inspired by Rogers’ message, Frearson invited him to Ockbrook, where a small group—mostly members of the Anglican Church—had begun gathering on “The Hill.”
The Moravian congregation was officially founded on 24 September 1750, marking the start of what would become a unique and enduring spiritual community. Frearson later sold land for the church, and on 3 July 1751 the foundation stone of the present building was laid.
Today, Ockbrook Moravian Church stands as a peaceful and historic landmark, celebrated for its heritage, warm community, and beautifully preserved setting within The Settlement.
